AlamoPROMISE Scholar Kevin Oyesile Pursues a Purpose-Driven Life Through Education

Kevin Oyesile is committed to living a purpose driven life that provides service to others. Inspired by his parents, who are first-generation college students, he knew that a major step in helping him achieve that goal was to enroll at San Antonio College (SAC) as an AlamoPROMISE Scholar.

Through the AlamoPROMISE program, which covers 100% of tuition and required fees for eligible students, Kevin was able to begin his college journey without the financial burden.

“Choosing the AlamoPROMISE program was a decision that was driven by its potential to reduce the financial burden of higher education. This is an invaluable advantage that has provided me with the ability to focus on my studies and career goals without the constant worry of running out of funds,” said Kevin.

He is currently a double major in Computer Science and Business Administration and maintains an impressive 3.93 GPA. His goal is to become a software engineer who brings innovating ideas to life in the technology industry.

“I asked myself, what brings me passion and a sense of purpose? I looked back on my younger years...and realized from very early on that I liked things that had to do with programming,” said Kevin.

Kevin’s passion for a life of dedication and impact stems from his religious upbringing, which is foundational to his commitment to leadership and a life of service. Outside of his studies, Kevin actively seeks opportunities to give back to his community. He has volunteered 198 service hours as a counselor with the Children's Association for Maximum Potential (CAMP) program, an experience that has helped him grow as a leader.  

Kevin was recognized for his impressive academic success during the March 2025 Alamo Colleges District (ACD) Board Meeting. When receiving his award, he expressed gratitude towards the AlamoPROMISE program and ACD’s ongoing commitment towards the success of its students.

“AlamoPROMISE has been a game changer. It has lowered the financial burden on my

parents, which means I can concentrate on my studies without the extra pressure. Plus,

it’s helped me stay close to home, which was important for me,” said Kevin.

With every step forward in his college journey, he is that much closer to reaching his goal of becoming a software developer who not only produces but also inspires others.

“There’s a lot of things that one can do with their profession and to find something that brings purpose, that’s something I value beyond all else,” said Kevin.
